Great new features coming to DigitalCMS

As we prepare to move into 2012 we look to start a new year with an excellent CMS, and we think we're getting there with some of the new features we've recently developed.

Let's tell you about them...

Made a bit of a mess of a page? Roll it back...

The first new feature is the ability to view previous versions of a websites pages, allowing you to restore a page to a previous version. So next time you make a mistake on a page, don't worry, roll it back.

Some new modules...

We've added some new modules to the base installation of the CMS, these include news articles, downloads, a photo gallery with albums, and a slideshow.

E-commerce

Still in development, but we're 80% there, the e-commerce module brings your online store into your website, merging the CMS and store together reduces the need for two seperate systems. We've made the store as flexible as possible, it includes the ability to manage tax groups, currencies, manufacturers, categories, attributes and options... perfect for small to medium websites.

Backup and restore

The new backup module allows an administrator to login and create database and file backups, and download them to your computer for safe keeping, or keep them on the server. You can easily restore a websites database via the CMS by simply selecting the database backup you'd like to restore. A great little module for those sites that are business critical.

Much easier to brand for your agency

We've spent some time slitting up the styling of the admin interface of DigitalCMS, meaning it's now much easier for us to re-style and brand DigitalCMS for each agency that uses it. So now agencies can have their own excellent fully branded CMS.

and finally... remote updates

We've built a fair few content management systems over the years, and there are a lot of websites out there powered in some way by one of our systems. In our experience, managing and updating multiple CMS instances is a right pain in the backside, rolling out updates to all instances is very time consuming. Well, not any more. Now DigitalCMS checks with our central server and looks for any updates, and it'll let you know if a module needs updating, a simple click of the update button, and DigitalCMS downloads and installs the updated module. It's just so unbelievable simple. What's better is that we can remotely force a CMS instance to update, so the end user doesn't even have to worry about updates.
